Amore e Piombo won the Kraszna Krausz Best Photography Book Award 2015

The publication of AMC2 No. 9 coincided with the exhibition Amore e Piombo at Brighton Photo Biennial 2014.

The pictures were taken by a group of photographers working for the Rome-based agency ‘Team Editorial Services’ in the 60’s and 70’s. Together they produced this explosive mix of press photographs capturing the political unrest and terror in Milan and Rome and Paparazzi-style pictures documenting film stars and artists. The press photographs illustrate seminal events such as the Piazza Fontana bombing in Milan in 1969 and Aldo Moro’s 1978 kidnap and assassination by the Red Brigades.

Large quotes by the likes of Fellini and Calvino are placed into the stitched binding, stretching from one side of the book to the other, interrupting and corrupting the photographic flow and chronology. These broken up texts reflect the mess and chaos of the subject matter. The ‘home-shot’ bullet hole pattern was laser cut into the cover.
