During the making of his most well known films The Mirror and Stalker, he used a Polaroid camera to capture potential film locations as well as daily events from his family life. These evocative and personal Polaroids, make up the second part of the book.

The filmmaker’s childhood memories in the first part of the book are illustrated with black and white images by Moscow poet Lev Gornung.
